RLS SEWA was founded in the year 2005 in the memory of Late Raja Lakshmeshwar Singh
who was a renowned sportsman, Ex Member of the State Legislative Assembly and was
wellknown as the saviour of poor. He believed that a good mental and physical health
of youth (and people in general) are essential in establishing a strong and affluent
society and nation.
"To produce so much of food in my land so that no human being in this entire
world lives in hunger" is what his vision was for the world. By removing the
tears and pain and bringing joy and happiness to the face of the poor and needy
people was what he did throughout his lifetime. His Principles and Values led to
the formation of RLS SEWA, which continuously works in the field of Education,Sports,
agricultural upliftment and social activities.
The primary objective of the organization is to generate public interest, consciousness
and participatory action for improving the general,physical, moral and intellectual
health of the people. To achieve this RLS SEWA is organizing the following activities
since 2005:
1. SPORTS
1.1 UP State Junior Badminton Championship is organized every year since its inception
in 2005. This encourages the emergence of young talent across all sections of society
which helps in maintaining the development phase in the state of Uttar Pradesh.
The tournament has become the talent spotting event for important organizations.
Indian Railways alone has selected eight players in their sports quota at this tournament.
The other players selected by audit and accounts, postal services and defence accounts
were also spotted by senior officers during this tournament.
1.2 An intervillage cricket tounament is organized every year from 14th january
to 14th february in a remote village gandharia phase in which now 68 teams are participating
1.3 Swimming competitions for village boys and girls is organized in River Khauano
in Basti district every year.
2. FARMERS EMPOWERMENT
2.1 One of the objectives of this NGO is to evolve a constructive interface between
farmers research institutions and academic bodies in order to disseminate the results
of basic and applied research in the field of agricultural animal husbandry and
environment. RLS SEWA has been organizing KISAAN SASHAKTIKARAN workshops every year
in April on RAJA LAKSHMESHWAR SINGH'S birthday.
2.2 The farmers of Basti,U.P. have been exposed to leading agriculture scientist
of national and international repute and have learnt a lot about flory culture,
medicinal farming, water conservation, waste recycling, enhancing the productivity
of land, organic farming etc.
2.3 Great revolutionary thinkers like V.P. SINGH, AJIT SINGH, Prof. R.B. SINGH,
Prof. S.N. PANDEY, Dr. A.P.J. ABDUL KALAM have motivated and boosted the sagging
morale of the local farmers.
3. MEDICAL AND HEALTH
3.1 It is not possible to achieve what you want if you do not posess a healthy body
and a sound mind. RLS SEWA organizes medical checkup camps in remote rural areas
where no medical facility is available, every year on 14th january i.e. the death
anniversary of Raja Lakshmeshwar Singh. Leading doctors from National and International
medical colleges(mostly Raja Lakshmeshwar Singh's colleagues and friends) come for
these camps diagnose chronic diseases and then adopt a few patients who really require
expert and expensive medical treatment in Hospitals.
3.2 Follow up camps in the same area are organized every month to administer medicines
and supervise the progress of patients for full one year.
3.3 Pregnant and Lectating mothers are given free iron, calcium and milk till the
baby six months old.
